Users can also specify what kind of events they seek, such as music, outdoor, art exhibits, etc. This asset is stronger and more effective the more people that participate, both as users and contributors.

The Estes Arts District Announces the Winner of the National Stanley Hotel Sculpture Contest!
Estes Park, CO – March 9, 2016 — The Estes Arts District is delighted to announce the winner of its nationwide Stanley Sculpture Contest: The Visionary by Daniel Glanz and Sutton Betti of Loveland. This figurative sculpture of F.O. Stanley will be a focal point in the new Stanley Maze, and the first sculpture ever created to celebrate this iconic man.
The summer of 2015, John Cullen, historic Stanley Hotel owner, asked the newly formed Estes Arts District to create and curate an annual national sculpture contest with a budget of $50,000 per sculpture for the hotel campus. The Stanley Hotel property is currently expanding to include two new hotels, a wellness center, a wedding/conference facility and an international film school. Several sculpture sites are being planned. The Estes Arts District enlisted the assistance of author and art consultant Judy Archibald to write the initial proposal for the contest. The first call for sculpture was issued in September 2015 to professional sculptors across the continental United States. The Estes Arts District then formed a Sculpture Review Team made up of Estes Arts District Board Members: Craig Soderberg, Karen McPherson, Greg Miles and Cydney Springer; Western Heritage Art Show Directors: Howell and J’Ann Wright; Estes Park Art in Public Places Board Members: Celine LeBeau and Brian Berg; artist Peter Gaustad, and author/art consultant Judy Archibald. Over fifty entries were submitted and reviewed by a panel who chose twelve submissions. In November 2015, these twelve were presented to the Sculpture Review Team. The three finalists selected were Twin Sisters by Jane DeDecker of Loveland, CO, The Visionary by Daniel Glanz and Sutton Betti of Loveland, CO and Bell and Arch by Larry Elardo of Groveland, Massachussetts. These artists were charged with creating small replicas or maquettes of their winning designs for a final presentation. On March 9, the three sculpture finalists made presentations with their maquettes at the historic Lodge at The Stanley Hotel to the Sculpture Review Team. The Visionary will be installed in the Stanley Maze in September 2016. “This has been an exciting project for the Estes Arts District and we express huge thanks to John Cullen for the opportunity to play a role in creating this extraordinary art collection,” said Cydney Springer, Estes Arts District Board Member. “The Stanley Hotel Sculpture Collection will be a gift for our community and visitors to enjoy for many years to come.”
