American Legion Post 119, along with support from Lumpy Ridge Brewery, Elkins Distilling Co., Estes Arts District and Abel Real Estate Group, is hosting a Fat Tuesday-Mardi Gras Party.
Craft beverages including Hurricanes ala Elkins Whisky will be available for purchase. We will be decked out with Mardi Gras beads, party favors, great music, and of course, King Cake! |

The centerpiece of the event is a Gumbo Cook Off – judging criteria is to select the best and most authentic gumbo.
First Prize $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50, and addition $25, $25, $25 honorable mentions. Anyone interested in participating in the Gumbo cook off email the American Legion Post 119 A standard crock pot of gumbo is required, and People's Choice will determine the big winner. Rice will be provided. ![]() Our friends Troy and Angie Koehlar, owners of the Erin Rose Pub in the French Quarter of New Orleans, are donating genuine King Cake to the Fat Tuesday Party.
