TROUT STEAK REVIVAL Ever since winning the 2014 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, Trout Steak Revival has quickly become the quintessential Colorado string band. Defined more by expressive songwriting and heartfelt harmonies rather than any one genre, Trout Steak Revival crosses over and blends the bounds of folk, indie, bluegrass, and roots evoking its own style of Americana. With five band members all contributing unique lyrics, lead vocals, acoustic instrumentation, and harmonies, Trout Steak Revival delivers memorable tunes to an energetic fanbase that grows hand-in-hand with the band. Their music is well-steeped in Americana roots, with vocal harmonies that are high, lonesome, and tight. Their picking ranges from lightning-fast to mountain mellow. They are a bluegrass band that would satisfy a picky old-timer and delight fans of newgrass, a delicate balance indeed.
In the summer of 2006, Alex Thoele and Jon Pickett met while playing guitars around a campfire, high on a mountaintop in Estes Park, CO. The two have been entertaining and writing music since. In 2010, they were joined by mandolin player and fellow midwesterner Jarett Mason and shortly after by James Weatherly on banjo, the band’s only Colorado native. Click here to view our band website. GREAT BLUE
Great Blue (Shirl Lawrence and Steve Kaplan) is an acoustic folk duo with eclectic tastes. We started singing with friends while living in Boulder more than three decades ago. We first (literally) “sang for our supper” the very first night we moved to New York State. For 35 years, we’ve been heard at coffeehouses within the Hudson River Valley. We sang at Clearwater festivals for more than a decade as members of the Walkabout Chorus and the Hudson River Sloopsingers. We are now called “Great Blue”after the observant heron we often find during our kayak trips. Now that our day jobs are behind us, Great Blue has flown to our permanent nest in the Colorado Rockies. GASOLINE LOLLIPOPS Gasoline Lollipops is a Colorado band that combines the sincerity of dirt-floor folk with the energy and rebelliousness of punk. It’s an all-new incarnation of alt-country that’s both high energy and heartfelt, like the American highway’s soundtrack. Click here to view our band website. BANSHEE TREE
“Banshee Tree makes a surprisingly original and enticing mix of gypsy jazz, folk pop and swing.” – Westword Magazine (Denver) Currently located in the Front Range, Banshee Tree has quickly developed a reputation as one of Colorado’s most multifaceted young bands. Combining the sounds of acoustic instruments with a diverse blend of EDM,Jam,& Early Jazz. Thomas LaFond’s intrepid lyrics & compositions serve as a platform for Hot Swing, Pop Folk, and deep house grooves. Fans of Gogol Bordello, Caravan Palace, and Django Reinhardt will appreciate this driving, earthy acoustic dance music. Their newest release, “In the Company of Crows”, is currently available through Bandcamp, Itunes, and Spotify. Click here to view our band website |
HEAVY BEAUTY
Somewhere in the midst of time, 4 musicians were called together to quickly become best friends. Deep within the Colorado Rockies, they forged their expansive and unique sound centered around the creative writing of their Dobro player Mike Testagrossa. Here, they began their journey with songs written in reflection of their love for the West. The Angelic water droplets of light come to you by their enigmatic mandolinist, Will Thomas. Underneath their melodic core lies the rock solid rhythm section. Bassist, Angel Edgemon’s haunting vocals and melodic rhythms were summoned by an ancient Appalachian forrest. And, radiating spiritual guidance through his drum mastery, Dax Hunter Jordan sets the unit apart from imitation. With the precise amount of dreams, love, hard work, and relentless passion, we now have the intangible weight that has become Heavy Beauty. MONOCLE
Led by the sweet and soaring vocals of Monica Whittington, this Monocle Band combines the best of song-craft and captivating performance. This is original music, the acoustic sound of the spirit, innately authentic yet sonically aligned with the roots music revival enchanting the nation. Lighting up dance floors and breaking hearts across the Rocky Mountain west since 2011, Monocle Band blends stirring songcraft, flatpicked guitar, fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, and the most musical of drums into a sound that will move your body, mind, and soul.
